Here is a description of the seminar:
This seminar introduces students to the fundamental steps of interpreting God’s Word. The
ultimate goal is to apply their interpretations to their own contemporary life and deepen their
devotional habits. To interpret the Bible is a religious practice for all Christians and a vital
practice for Christian leaders. This seminar is concerned with the cultivation of interpretive (i.e.
exegetical) thinking. Students of the Bible have not actually interpreted a biblical text until they
have connected the parts with the whole text in a meaningful fashion—atomizing Scripture is all
too common! Students are introduced to the three major contexts to biblical interpretation:
Cultural, Situational, and Co-text. The emphasis will be on New Testament interpretation;
however, the principles learned can be applied to the Old Testament.
